Galway & Claddagh Swan Rescue.

Galway & Claddagh Swan Rescue is in operation for more than seven years. We are a small voluntary group based in Galway City. We are involved in the protection and conservation of all wetland birds, indigenous and migratory. We rescue and treat injured and weak birds. It is great to release a healthy bird back into it's own territory.
We do call outs around the city and county. We also do rescues in surrounding counties. We are called by members of the public, the GardaĆ, G.S.P.C.A, Sports Grounds and Golf Clubs. A lot of our work involves giving advice over the phone. We get calls seeking advice from all over the country as we appear to be the only voluntary group providing this service for the city, county and the people of Ireland.

Dear Mary,

I'm a student in NUI Galway. I have noticed the signs warning against feeding the swans at the Claddagh. I was wondering whether there is some specific feed made for swans and whether you or GSR would approve of such a feed being sold at the Claddagh to prevent bread being used? Thanks for your time, S. McGonigle.

Hi Mary,

I'm just wondering whether you are looking for any volunteers to help with the swans, I would really love to help out if its possible.

Sinead.

Hi Mary, it was lovely to meet you today in Rusheen park. Thank you so much for telling us all about the sick swan, the ducks and your blackbird. I hope the blackbird will fly off successfully tomorrow. The kids were really interested in all you had to tell us. Continued good luck in all your rescues. Brenda, Isobel, Joseph and Rachel Tansey and Tom.

Hi Brenda, it was lovely talking to you and your children yesterday. Many thanks for your donation to our registered charity. We really appreciate it as feeding and veterinary costs are substantial.. Hope you have a great holiday in Galway. Mary Joyce-Glynn
